// Who are the Best UK Employers for International Students?
by Career Interactive, 26th April 2017
CIUK has spoken to international students across the UK, and we are frequently asked who the best UK employers for international students. A difficult question when you consider, how can we tell who is “best.”
Due to the increasingly harsh immigration climate brought about by the incumbent government, we are led to believe, the “best” are actually the biggest companies which give the most opportunities of Tier 2 Sponsorship.
Which Companies are we talking about?
We are talking about the biggest employers in the UK apart from the Public Sector

These companies provide 31% of the available top graduate jobs in the UK. Let’s put that into perspective:
16x more jobs than the Consumer Goods Industry
10x more jobs than the Media Industry
6x more jobs than the Law Industry
2x more jobs than the Investment Banking Industry
In fact, there are more jobs in the Professional Services industry than all of those industries combined.

In 2015 there were 5,400 Tier 2 to Tier 4 Switches (that is where a Tier 4 student switched from a Tier 4 from a University to a Tier 2 at a Company)
We conservatively estimate that a minimum of 25% (1,350) of these visas were from the 7 companies we have discussed.
That is 1 in 4 Visas.
Also since the tightening of Visa restrictions, most companies will now only accept in country switching. Meaning your best chance of getting a Tier 2 is while in University education and as soon as possible.
What is more, you will not need to have studied accounting, finance or any form of business management to be able to work in these industries. They will accept any graduate who has a 2:1 in their discipline and a good standard of English.
At some point, many international students must realise that they can greatly increase their chances of getting a Tier 2 Visa by applying for industries which offer the greatest number of Visas.
