CIUK attends PwC Immigration Meetings

In 2015, CIUK was proud to be invited by PwC to its regular Immigration meetings which bring together FTSE 100 Companies, University Representatives, Home Office Staff and important figures in the increasingly important immigration debates in the UK. Allowing CIUK to represent international students at the highest levels of business and government.

CIUK submits evidence to the Migration Advisory Committee

In 2015 CIUK attended a meeting hosted by PwC and attended by the head of MAC, Sir David Metcalfe which outlined proposals by the Conservative government to actively “reduce net migration into the UK”

CIUK submitted evidence twice in 2015 to MAC, clearly stating the damaging effect that adjustments to the Tier 2 requirements for international students could have on their future prospects of finding work in the UK and whether future potential students may be dissuaded from studying in the UK.

UK Parliament

Career Interactive met The Latvian-British Chamber of Commerce and Mr Mark Prisk, Member of the UK Parliament and former Minister of State for Business and Enterprise at a Business Seminar held at the House of Commons, The Parliament of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. 

CIUK was invited to meet with the LCCB and Mr. Mark Prisk to talk about ways to encourage the advertisement of Latvian businesses and encouraging international students to engage with Latvian business and visit Latvia.

CIUK International Students Fairs attended endorsed by the Mayor of Birmingham

In 2014 and 2015, CIUK held 3 international student fairs in Birmingham which, each attended by a different Mayor, who met with employers, spoke to students and impressed upon the audience how important international students are to Birmingham and the UK economy as a whole.

Mayor of Manchester attends and endorses CIUK’s International Student Fairs in Manchester

Multiple Manchester Mayors have endorsed CIUK’s fairs. Reflecting how important international students are to Manchester’s economy. Manchester University has the second largest number of international students behind UCL, and the fees they pay are larger than the revenue of Manchester United and Manchester City combined.

We welcome all the international students and those companies who can provide work opportunities for them to Manchester. We must recognise the importance of international students because they are the backbone of our economy.”

A representative from the Brazillian embassy, Dr. Juliana Bertazzo attended CIUK’s International Student Fair in London in the Spring of 2014. She stressed the importance for international co-operation in education, research and work in a speech to attendees,
